Using a rich pallet of dyed Merino X Wool fleece and Yarns from Harrisville Designs and a combination of wet and needle felting techniques, you will design and make your very own unique, solid wool ball or pin cushion with an intricate, fully integrated wool design on the surface.

The mechanics will involve hand felting with water and soap for about 2 hours, building and compacting your ball; pressing, shaping and compacting, much like building a snowball. There will be pressing, rubbing and rolling with fingers and Palms. These motions require a fair amount of sustained, preferably pain-free hand strength. No surprises.

Contact Stephany with any questions or concerns about it being within your ability: (707) 477-7261.

About Stephany:

I have been hand felting with Harrisville fleece on and off for about 18 years. In the last couple of years, I have been exploring using their Yarns made from the same wool to create intricate, fully integrated surface designs on hand felted balls and pin cushions. I often feel as if it is a merging of Ukrainian Easter egg dying, which I grew up doing, with my love of felted, useful, playful objects. It is a particularly nice activity to share with a group of people and I love being able to see what everyone makes. As a teacher, I prefer small classes, my goals being clear instructions and availability to support all students to the best of my ability, as they learn and create something they love.
