ROC Day

Roc Day – also known as Saint Distaff Day, Distaff Day, or Rock Day is celebrated on January 7th, the day after Epiphany. Traditionally, it was the day that spinners returned to work after the Christmas season. To make things more confusing to we modern fiber enthusiasts, there is no Saint named Distaff.

So where did the Roc come from? In several Northern European languages, “roc” or rok” means “distaff.”

To keep the confusion level high, the day may also fall on Old Rock Day which celebrates Fossils !?!

Anyway, Saint Distaff Day will give fiber lovers a reason to renew working with our fibers in any way shape or form.
